San Francisco’s Lyrah has dropped her latest single in the form of ‘Slow Down’. It’s a downbeat track (as the title suggests), supported by delicate piano and airy, ethereal vocals. For a track written over Zoom, it has a mature, impressive quality that only a gifted songwriter can achieve. While the track is about how quickly time passes by, influence naturally stemmed from the pandemic: “This was two months into the pandemic, and while we were reminded of how precious life was, it felt like we had no control over it.” Her debut EP, Chemicals, was well-received last year, and she has yet to put a foot wrong. -Dan Peeke
